A culmination of a four-year program, this project redefines the workplace of tomorrow for Deloitte's employees and clients alike. Achieving the prestigious BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Gold Star ratings, it's not only an exemplar of green building but also a beacon of employee wellbeing.

Collaboration with Deloitte and Interior Design Excellence
Sketch Studios embarked on a transformative journey working hand-in-hand with Deloitte and ID:SR, Sheppard Robson's interior design team. The mission was clear: to create a dynamic workspace that fosters productivity and employee wellbeing. With over 27,000 pieces of furniture and a remarkable 50% ratio of height-adjustable desking, Sketch Studios ensured an exceptional end-user experience.
The integration of technology into the furniture elements maintains a clean and fluid aesthetic. Through close collaboration with suppliers and pioneering solutions, Sketch Studios, in conjunction with Hoare Lea and ID:SR, played a pivotal role in securing the WELL Certified Gold and BREEAM Outstanding accreditations.

Flexibility for a Dynamic Workforce
Deloitte's philosophy is to empower its employees to choose their ideal work settings for the day's activities. Therefore, Sketch Studios and the Deloitte team worked together to create workspaces that support different working styles for a flexible workforce. This aligns with Deloitte's evolving workplace strategy, transitioning from three types of work settings to an impressive ten.
Employees can now select from a range of workspaces, from small and cozy to large and spacious. Many of these settings are flexible, easily transforming from event spaces to social spaces, meeting areas, or workspaces. This collaborative effort has established a new work style that sparks creativity and encourages more collaborations across the business.
Agile, Intelligent,
and Sustainable
Social Spaces and Innovation Hubs: Where Collaboration Thrives
Deloitte's new addition to its London campus embraces agile working and an intelligent building system to drive efficiencies while setting new standards for wellness and sustainability. The project centralises client spaces, welcoming clients into the campus and introducing innovative ways of working alongside Deloitte's team.
The interior strategy mirrors urban planning, defining neighbourhoods, routes, and layers of privacy throughout the spaces. It all begins at reception, a light-filled, double-height space with warm timber-clad surfaces, setting the tone for the entire building.
Various floors offer an array of work settings for the Deloitte team, including individual booths, team tables, and open collaborative spaces, allowing employees to choose the right space for the task at hand. This freedom of choice extends to social and informal spaces, with levels 7 and 12 providing areas for relaxation and informal work. These spaces are interconnected by a series of new staircases and include the main food court, expansive presentation areas, a tea bar, a coffee shop, and social spaces. There's even an external terrace, providing staff with fresh air and stunning city views.
Setting New Sustainability Benchmarks
Balancing Environmental Performance and Wellbeing
The building's configuration supports an ambitious sustainability target that places health and wellbeing on par with environmental performance. Sketch Studios' design and procurement activities focused on delivering exceptional environmental performance, from materials selection to energy- and water-efficiency. Equal emphasis was placed on the health, wellbeing, and comfort of occupants, resulting in 1 New Street Square becoming the largest WELL Gold, New and Existing Interiors project worldwide and the first to achieve both BREEAM Outstanding and WELL Gold certifications.
This holistic approach encompasses providing cleaner air, better lighting, purer water, healthier food options, fitness opportunities, and mindfulness spaces throughout the workspace. A remarkable 50% of desks are sit-stand to improve comfort, and biophilic design elements include 6,300 plants in 700 displays, 1,500 sq ft moss walls, and images of nature, bringing the building to life and fostering mindfulness opportunities.

Since 2016, Sketch Studios has been collaborating closely with Deloitte. Over the years, this partnership has resulted in award-winning, exciting, challenging, and diverse projects across the UK and Europe.
As the appointed furniture dealer for Deloitte, Sketch Studios has refined its service offering, product solutions, and their compatibility with Deloitte's workstream integrations, including IT and Workplace. We have consistently delivered value while closely collaborating with partners, including global manufacturing partners like Steelcase, Miller Knoll, Vitra, Ahrend, and HNI.
Deloitte's new headquarters at 1 New Street Square is not just an office space; it's a testament to innovation, sustainability, and wellbeing.
